By now, most everyone probably knows what FFFFound is - images are posted by the lucky early registrants, and each image connects you with other images that are similar. A lot of people still really, really want FFFFound invites. I guess we all want what we can't have, so maybe that's why they haven't oened up the registration to everyone.
So given this situation, ShareSomeCandy was created, and apparently anyone can submit an image, although I looked and have no idea how you go about doing this.
I get the RSS feed for both of these, and I can see why someone would post an image they found on ShareSomeCandy to FFFFound (wider audience), but not really the other way around, because aren't the odds pretty good that they people who look at ShareSomeCandy already look at FFFFound?
I completely accept that sometimes there will be duplicate postings of the same image -- this happens even on FFFFound, with it's supposedly discerning coven of invitees. And I guess you could argue that if someone posts something on ShareSomeCandy that they've already seen on FFFFound, then it only means more links to the source, which is always nice.
But why not just link right to the original source then? I don't get it.
saw this here...
links back to....
I'm not really drawing any conclusions here, but I just feel like if someone went to the trouble to make ShareSomeCandy, what's the point of duplicating stuff that (probably) the same people have most likely seen?
(There's also
, but someone over there seems to have a weird penchant for Tilda Swinton.)
I feel like the people on weheartit and SSC probably like the same aesthetic(s) as the FFFFOUND! guys, but want the option to participate if they want to. I use FFFFOUND! as a visual version of delicious for myself, periodically going back to my own list if I want inspiration or to change up my desktop background. I dont really pay attention to the community part as much as what I personally use the site for; I may be in the minority though.

If you like ffffound check out http://imgfave.com
It's an image bookmarking site that I built. It's similar to ffffound but open to everyone, and has a pretty good community going.
